Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese-Language on a Specific Theme: ((i) Teaching Japanese grammar and (ii) Course Design)

Applications for JFY2018-19 are now closed. 

Applications open October-November each year.

Training is provided on the specific themes of (1) Teaching Japanese grammar and (2) Course Design in fiscal 2018 to deepen knowledge on theories and methodologies related to the theme and to improve educational capacity, with the aim of resolving issues in educational settings. This program covers both primary and secondary education, and is open to both non-native and native speakers of Japanese.

Training Periods:

  • 29 May 2018 – 5 July 2018
  • 6 November 2018 – 13 December 2018

Project-Based Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese-Language

Applications for JFY2018-19 are now closed. 

Applications open October-November each year.

Training is provided to Japanese language teachers who are independently engaged in projects to resolve problems or challenges they face such as the teaching materials or curriculum development, so that they can improve their specialist knowledge and techniques in order to complete their projects.

Training Period:

  • Three to ten weeks between 1 June 2018 to 28 February 2019

FAQ

I am a native speaker, am I eligible for this grant?

Yes. This is the only grant that native speakers are eligible for.

What types of projects would be accepted for the Advanced Training Program?

Example programs that would be accepted are syllabus and curriculum programs as well as the development of teaching materials.

I received a grant from The Japan Foundation last year. When am I eligible to apply again?

One year must elapse before being eligible to receive a further grant from The Japan Foundation.

Can team members be from different organisations or reside in different countries?

Yes. Members do not all have to belong to the same institution in the same country. However, it does exclude members residing in Japan.
