Catalogue Launch & Talk Event

Presented by Exhibition co-curator eloise rapp

March 13, 2020

Celebrate the launch of the Steam Dreams: The Japanese Public Bath exhibition catalogue with a talk by co-curator Eloise Rapp. In this talk event, Eloise Rapp (Sydney-based designer and specialist in Japanese crafts and culture) will give a comprehensive overview on the culture and traditions behind bathing in Japan, from its inception to what it has become today.

Eloise will touch on topics such as the difference between onsen and sentō, the ways in which local communities are attempting to preserve sentō for future generations, and how the rise of sentō as a local cultural touchstone has evolved both commercially and artistically.

Please note that the in-person talk event will also be available via Facebook livestream on the JPF Sydney Facebook.

A limited run of our free exhibition catalogue will be exclusively available for attendees on the day in addition to the public online version.
