Coronavirus and J-Course Attendance Information 

The Japan Foundation, Sydney is currently following advice from the NSW Ministry of Health in relation to the virus COVID-19. We will update this page regularly, but please check https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/novel-coronavirus.aspx for the most current information, and follow the NSW Ministry of Health’s instructions.

Please note the following important information for Term 2: 

  • Term 2 will run for 9 weeks, from 4 May to 4 July.
  • Classes will be held online until the restrictions for COVID-19 have been lifted.
  • Week 1 will be a 40 minute orientation session, including warm-up conversation practice.
  • We will cover all topics planned for Term 2. However the final review lessons and test, which are usually scheduled for Weeks 9 and 10, will not be included in Term 2 this year.
  • The schedule may change based on future government recommendations.

Our language courses offer you the opportunity to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing competency through class interaction plus active participation in tasks. All of our language courses are conducted mainly in Japanese and are based on the JF Standard, which caters to every level of learning.

Please note:

  • Our language courses (with the exception of the 10-Week Taster Course) are available to Members of The Japan Foundation, Sydney. You do not need to be a member to apply for our courses, but once your enrolment has been confirmed you will need to obtain membership before the beginning of your first class.
