Library Postal Loans
We also request that borrowers retain their loaned items until further notice. Do not send them back to the library. This is to avoid the chance of packages being left outside our premises unattended and any loss or damage that may arise.
The library offers postal loans to paid members of The Japan Foundation, Sydney who are not able to visit the library. Please search our library catalogue to find the titles you would like to borrow and quote the bibliographic information in the online form below.
The following additional conditions will apply to postal loans:
- The library will pack and send your requested items to an address in Australia. We will use Australia Post standard delivery Parcel Post as our shipping option and bear the one-way shipping cost to your address.
- The library may decline to any requests for item(s) that are too heavy, bulky or fragile as part of this service.
- The library will quote your telephone number on the sending package to reduce the risk of misdelivery.
- In the case that borrowers return their loan by post/courier, any loss or damage caused at any phase of the delivery process is considered the borrower’s responsibility. Please retain a tracking number of your returning package until the delivery is complete.
The library also fulfils inter-library loan requests to the majority of local council and university libraries in Australia and New Zealand. Depending on the service policy of the library you are requesting a loan from, service fees may be passed on to the patron. Please contact the inter-library loan officer at the library you patronise for further details.
