Japanese Language Courses

Enjoy learning Japanese with The Japan Foundation, Sydney!

We offer two types of courses to suit different learning styles. All of our courses are conducted mainly in Japanese and are based on the JF Standard, which caters to every level of learning. Not sure which course to apply for? Contact us at jcourse(a)jpf.org.au!

Interactive Japanese courses for all levels of learners, from beginner to upper advanced. Standard (one-year) courses are currently run online.

Comprehensive online Japanese courses at the beginner and elementary levels, offered through the JF Japanese e-Learning Minato platform

The 10 Week Taster Course may be suitable for you!
This is a single-term short course that focuses on basic speaking/listening.
The Starter Course (beginning in January) or the Mid-Year Starter Course (beginning in July) may be suitable for you!
These are comprehensive one-year courses that cover listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Both courses cover the same content - the Mid-Year Starter Course runs half a year behind.
The Marugoto A1-1 Tutor Support Course may be suitable for you!
This is an online course offered through the JF Japanese e-Learning Minato platform.
The Marugoto Tutor Support Courses may be suitable for you!
These are paid online courses from beginner to the upper elementary level.

Our standard Japanese courses (J-Course) may be suitable for you! 

We offer courses from the Starter (A1) to the Upper Advanced (B2) levels.
So that we can better advise you on which course would suit your level, please complete the self-level checker included in the non-beginner enquiry form.
Once we have received the results of your self-level checker, we will be in touch as soon as possible.

2023 J-Course

From 2023, Japanese Language Courses at The Japan Foundation, Sydney, will be run on a new yearly schedule from April to March.(See details below.) New students are welcome to join! Enrollment procedures can be found from the side bar.

About J-Course

Our language courses offer you the opportunity to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing competency through class interaction plus active participation in tasks.

Please note:

  • Our language courses (with the exception of the 10-Week Taster Course) are available to paid members of The Japan Foundation, Sydney. You do not need to be a member to apply for our courses, but once your enrolment has been confirmed you will need to obtain membership before the beginning of your first class.
