»Taikoz 4tet Live!« On the road to Brisbane, Byron & Grafton

02 May 2019 to 04 May 2019

Don't let the size of the group fool you! The four Taikoz dynamos conjure an energetic, dramatic, and at times, explosive set that has all the hallmarks of the full-piece ensemble.

Designed for more intimate spaces that allows the audience to hear and feel the rhythm and emotion as the players do, »Taikoz 4tet Live!« is an exhilarating program that begins with Waves  – Ian Cleworth’s mesmerising, virtuosic, poly-rhythmic 2-tone slung-drum solo – and continues to burn in energy until the high-energy, uplifting finale – US taiko player/composer Joe Small’s choreographic drumming spectacle, Propel.

From the small, high-pitched shimedaiko to the deep bass tones of the odaiko, Taikoz’s taiko combine with soulful singing and spirited movement to create a varied and entertaining concert suitable for all ages.

The Taikoz 4tet is on the road from May 1-5, presenting »Taikoz 4tet Live!« in Brisbane (3/5) and Byron Bay (4/5). A workshop will also be given in Brisbane at QMC (3/5).

The Taikoz 4tet will also be visiting Grafton's Clarence Valley Conservatorium (2/5) to give a workshop for local school children who play drums and percussion (10:00-11:30am). This will be followed by a 60-minute version of »Taikoz 4tet Live!« in which the workshop players will also perform!
