Information Gap: Family

Students match pictures of families to corresponding text or vice versa.

 

 

Activity 1

  1. Students form four groups.
  2. Each group is shown one of the four pictures on Worksheet. Students make notes about the picture.
  3. Students form new groups of four, one from each of the former groups. In their new groups, students report on the family they saw in the picture. Group members take notes, and the group disperses.Each student will say something like the following: 「はるなさんのかぞくは4にんです。おとうさんと おかあさんと おばあさんが います」
  4. The teacher reads out the text. Students listen and match what they hear to their information. They assign the numbers 1 to 4 to the information they have on each family.

Activity 2

  1. Students form four groups.
  2. The teacher gives each group one segment of the Text. Each group chooses one member to read out the segment of Text given to them by the teacher. Students take notes about what they hear. This task is done in 4 different places in the classroom simultaneously.
  3. Students form new groups of 4, one from each of the former groups. In their new group, students report on the family they just heard about. Group members take notes, and the group disperses
  4. The teacher gives out the Worksheet, and students match the information to the pictures.

  1. わたしのかぞくはにんです。ちちと、ははと、がいます。きょうだいはいません。
  2. わたしのかぞくはにんです。りょうしんと、おとうとと、わたしです。たりきょうだいです。
  3. わたしたりきょうだいです。あねがいます。それから、と、と、ははがいます。
  4. わたしさんにんきょうだいです。あにいもうとがいます。それからちちがいます。
